Russian evening airstrike on Zaporizhzhia claimed five lives, Ukraine

On the evening of June 20, Russian forces launched at least nine strikes with guided aerial bombs on residential neighborhoods and civilian infrastructure in the city.

One of the bombs hit a roadway, killing two women who were inside a car. Two more people were killed at a local hub, while rescuers recovered the body of a fifth victim from the rubble of a destroyed garage. In total, 12 residents sought medical assistance for injuries sustained in the attack.

A total of 26 residential buildings and several non-residential facilities sustained damage of varying severity. The affected properties included 20 apartment buildings and six private homes in the Dniprovskyi, Voznesenivskyi, and Kosmichnyi districts of the city. A horse-riding club also came under attack, killing two horses and injuring another five.

Rescuers, police officers, municipal workers, and volunteers began emergency response efforts immediately after the strikes. Recovery operations continued throughout the night, and by morning specialists had already covered damaged windows in 12 apartment buildings, 5 private homes, and one non-residential building. Work at the affected sites is ongoing.
