Russian occupation forces continue to terrorise the civilian population of Ukraine. Today, at about 15:17, Russian occupiers launched a massive missile attack on residential areas of Kharkiv. According to preliminary data, the enemy struck at least six guided aerial bombs at the city.
One of the bombs hit a multi-storey residential building, causing a fire between the 9th and 12th floors of the building and destroying several apartments. According to preliminary information, there may be people trapped under the rubble of the building. Emergency services and volunteers are working at the scene.
According to Mayor Igor Terekhov, one of the building’s entrances has been completely destroyed, with about 1,500 windows and dozens of cars damaged.
As of now, 41 people have been reported injured, including children aged 1, 4 and 12. Fourteen people have been hospitalised.
All victims are receiving comprehensive medical care and psychological support. Residents of the building in need have been provided with humanitarian aid and hot meals.
The search and rescue operation is ongoing. The State Emergency Service units continue to extinguish the fire.
This is the second attack on Kharkiv in 24 hours. The first attack took place in the morning of 15 September.
