Russian occupation forces continue to attack populated areas of the Donetsk region. This time, in the middle of the night, the enemy shelled the city of Kramatorsk.
On August 24, 2024, at 10:35 p.m., Russian troops fired an Iskander-M missile at the city of Kramatorsk. The occupiers targeted a residential area, where two journalists of foreign media, aged 38 and 40, were injured at the site of a destroyed local hotel. They were diagnosed with blast injuries, brain contusions, a broken leg, contusions, and various cuts on the body. Another person is under the rubble. All three victims were journalists, representing Ukraine, the USA, and Great Britain, who were covering the war in Ukraine.
The hotel building and residential buildings were also damaged.
The news agency stated that the Sapphire Hotel, where a six-person Reuters team was staying, suffered an “apparent missile strike” on Saturday.
“One of our colleagues is considered missing, and two others have been taken to the hospital for medical assistance,” the Reuters news agency reported.
The victims received emergency medical care.
Search operations and debris analysis are ongoing. Representatives of the authorities, rescuers, and law enforcement officers are working at the site.
Under the procedural supervision of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been launched on the criminal proceedings for violating the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Law enforcement officials are taking all possible and appropriate measures to document war crimes committed by representatives of the Russian armed forces.
