On August 20, at 17:45, the enemy struck the village of Malokaterynivka in the Kushuhum community, Zaporizhzhia region. The shelling hit near a children’s café. As a result of it, eight people were injured.
Among the victims were seven children aged 11 to 17, as well as an 18-year-old girl. All the casualties were taken to the regional clinical hospital. During resuscitation efforts, a 14-year-old boy died. Three of the children have minor injuries, one child has moderate injuries, and two children are in critical condition.
Investigative teams, criminologists, bomb technicians, and other specialized services worked at the scene.
At 23:08, the Russian occupiers launched a second attack on the village. The blast wave and shrapnel damaged 50 private houses, seven of which are irreparably damaged. The body of a deceased man, a resident of Malokaterynivka born in 1964, was found in one of the buildings. A 45-year-old woman was injured.
As a result of the double enemy shelling, two people were killed, including one child. Eight people were injured, six of whom were children.
August 21 has been declared a Day of Mourning in the Kushuhum community. Locals have been urged to avoid crowded places due to the high probability of further attacks.
