Another night of Russian strikes on Sumy, Ukraine

On the evening of August 17, around 22:40, the Russian army launched a ballistic missile strike on Sumy.

As a result of the attack, the main building of Sumy State University was damaged: windows and doors were blown out, and the facades of the building were affected. Fortunately, there were no casualties or injuries.

Later, during the night of August 18, after 03:00, Russian forces struck the city again, this time using “Shahed” UAVs. At least five explosions were reported.

The university, which had already been repeatedly targeted, was hit again. Six academic buildings sustained significant damage: roofs were destroyed, and more than 1,200 windows were shattered, with the most severe damage occurring in building “N.”

In addition to the university, residential areas were affected: approximately 100 windows were blown out in two multi-story buildings, and a private house sustained damage to windows and doors. An administrative building and vehicles were also damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties.

Cleanup and recovery operations are ongoing, with the State Emergency Service, police, and other emergency teams actively involved on site.
