On April 17, at about 09:00, the Russian Federation launched a missile attack on one of the densely populated neighborhoods of Chernihiv. A civilian facility was destroyed, and surrounding apartment buildings, educational and medical institutions, as well as other buildings and vehicles were damaged. The search and rescue operation continued until the morning.
As of 08.00 on April 18, reports indicate 95 victims, including 18 killed and 78 wounded (38 hospitalized, 40 treated as outpatients). Among the wounded are three juvenile boys with minor injuries, who are currently receiving treatment at home.
37 people were hospitalized, 12 of them with severe injuries, 10 with moderate injuries, and 15 with minor injuries.
A door-to-door inspection revealed that 28 buildings and nearly 500 apartments were damaged. Additionally, a healthcare facility, a higher education institution, several microbusinesses, a boiler house, and a water supply facility operated by Chernihiv Vodokanal also sustained damage.
The police continue to accept applications from victims to help restore their homes through the eRestoration program.
In total, 36 facilities have been damaged or destroyed as a result of the attack.
Under the procedural supervision of the Chernihiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a pre-trial investigation has been initiated into criminal proceedings for violations of the laws and customs of war, including premeditated murder.
