Massive fires break out in Lutsk following Russian drone attack, Ukraine

On the morning of April 1, Russian forces attacked the city of Lutsk using Shahed-type strike drones. As a result of direct hits and falling debris, large-scale fires broke out at industrial facilities and in residential areas.

Significant damage was reported to a Nova Poshta terminal, food warehouses belonging to supermarket chains, and a multi-storey residential building.

At the postal terminal, the fire covered an area exceeding 3,000 square meters. Units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) were deployed to the scene. Firefighters managed to evacuate equipment and save the administrative part of the building from destruction.

The most difficult situation occurred at the food warehouses, where the fire had already spread to 21,000 square meters by the time the first emergency crews arrived. Additional firefighting units from neighboring regions were involved to contain the blaze.

At the same time, emergency responders were working in a residential area, where falling drone debris caused fires on two balconies of an apartment building. The fire was quickly extinguished.

Despite the scale of the damage and destruction of infrastructure, no civilian casualties or injuries have been reported.
