Throughout the night of January 22-23, the Russians terrorized the city with kamikaze drones and ballistic missiles.
The first attack took place at around 22:00 when kamikaze drones (“Shaheds”) hit an energy facility. As a result, not only residential buildings but also healthcares facilities, boiler houses and other objects of critical infrastructure were left without electricity.
The second strike took place early in the morning, at 4:00 a.m. – this time the Russians used ballistic weapons. Among the victims were rescuers and power engineers who had been working to address the aftermath of the first attack.
As of 12:00, one person has been reported killed and 45 civilians have been injured, including a two-month-old boy. Over 20,000 customers were left without electricity, and almost 17,000 without heating.
Utilities services together with charity workers are already working at the sites of the attacks.
